Mike Lund is the senior equine specialist at Cal Poly. He supervises all
aspects of the Cal Poly Equine Center and deals with the educational program
in the equine area. He is responsible for budgetary concerns and oversees
the breeding and marketing of Cal Poly's foundation horses. He also coordinates
and helps facilitate research projects in the equine area including senior
projects and research with other faculty.
Lund teaches the equine science, equine evaluation and other training
and riding courses. In addition to these courses, he is adviser to the
Quarter Horse Enterprise and Ranch Horse Enterprise. As adviser he travels
with students through out the state visiting numerous trainers and equine
facilities. Every fall he takes the project members to the Snaffle Bit
Futurity in Reno to sell the project horses.
He is a member of the American Quarter Horse Association, National Reined
Cow Horse Association and the National Reining Horse Association.
