Cal Poly recently purchased 12 stainless steel
metabolism crates to conduct experiments in nutrient
digestibility in swine.
Additionally, a new two-room nursery/grower
building at the Swine Center will allow for growth
studies to be conducted. Each room will contain 14
pens, equipped with stainless steel self-feeders and
an automatic cup waterer.
Nutritional research projects are used for
graduate students to conduct thesis projects and for
animal science undergraduates to conduct senior
projects.
